Why this years New Years resolutions are going to be different

So, why is this years’ New Years resolutions going to be different?

It’s going to be different because I’m going to apply myself.
Because I’m going to put little sticky notes everywhere to remind me of all the little (and big) things that I need to do.
Because I have a calendar! Because I have a timeline of where I need to be at certain points through out the year.
Because I’m motivated, dedicated, inspirated, urr, my bad — not a word. But, because I’m inspired too!

Because what I said and did last year doesn’t even matter, its what I’m doing now.

Because being lazy is going to get me no where — fast.

Because I’m going to put little sticky notes everywhere to remind me of all the little (and big) things that I need to do.

Because my pockets deserve a break, and because my hair deserves a break (no more perms).

Because my sneakers need to have more miles on them.Image

Because when I watched the season premiere for “Being Mary Jane” starring the lovely actress Gabrielle Union on Jan. 7, 10pm eastern time, I realized that is who I’ll become in the next ten years or so (without all her man drama) and I need to work hard in order to get there! She is a successful and passionate journalist, who also happens to be a black woman, and although — yes — it is a fictitious drama, the scenarios and the story lines are very much real (and a lot of women can relate, too).

Because I need to perfect my journalistic skills.

And lastly, because I am more spiritually in tune with my God and with my well-being.
That’s why this year, 2014, is going to be different.
I also pinky promised myself, so now I know it’s real.
